It was the 2013 model year that Jeep offered an SRT8 on their Grand Cherokee. Even though it was met with mixed reviews, questions and concerns, the overall feeling since then has been “man, this is a fun Jeep to drive” and “wow! This has a lot of power!” When considering that it’s Jeep we’re talking about, isn’t that what they want customers to say anyway? When was the last time you heard someone say, “gosh, I know I want a fun drive, but I don’t know that Jeep is going to deliver.” The answer is never because no one has ever said that. And no one ever will. Jeeps are made to be fun vehicle’s regardless of its configuration or body style.

If you’re looking for a fun used Jeep Grand Cherokee, then check out a 2013 Grand Cherokee SRT8. It’s essentially a hot rod in a Jeep body; a perfect combination of power and more power. Who wouldn’t want the enthusiasm of a hot rod engine in the body of a vehicle that is known for its ability to go anywhere? Again, the answer is no one.

2013 was one heck of a year for Jeep Grand Cherokees. Having been overlooked by some of the larger, luxury SUVs that started to overcrowd this segment, Jeep made its returning debut and took it seriously with the SRT8. Not only did the SRT8 get a new engine, but it got a new makeover, as well.

Aggressive Appearance

Lowering the ride height and adding larger wheels and tires along with fire red brake callipers, the 2013 Grand Cherokee is nothing if not tough. It’s hood is a bit more aggressive, but so is its and what’s not aggressive about an SRT8? If you ask me, the design perfectly fits its performance.

At 5,150 pounds, this road burning Cherokee produces a monster amount of power, 470 to be exact. It’s V8 comes mated with suspension and brakes to match and won’t be found on any other crossover or midsize in this segment, which is totally unique. Jeep’s are used to standing out on their own and that’s exactly what they created with the 2013 SRT8.

Yes, it’s big.

Yes, it’s heavy and once the tach hits 3,000 rpm, this beast is taking off like a roman candle. And you can expect the noises that typically accompany a hot rod to follow suit on the Grand Cherokee, as well.

Given its 6.4 liters and not-so-eco-friendly demeanor, you can expect that this Grand Cherokee doesn’t deliver exceptional gas mileage, but let’s be honest for a minute. One doesn’t buy a 6.4L SRT8 for its fuel economy. You buy an SRT8 because you have an undeniable love for fast, powerful engines, even if it’s in a Jeep Grand Cherokee. That being said, an average of 16 mpg should be expected for both city and highway driving.

If you love driving something fun, then you already know that Jeep is the brand for you, but if driving something that’s going to super powerful, fast and fun is also something that appeals to you, then a 2013 SRT 8 is exactly what you’re looking for.
