2019 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is Everything We Hoped For…And So Much More

The 2019 Jeep Wagoneer was recently introduced to Fiat Chrysler dealerships across the United States, and the excitement surrounding its release is undeniable. Despite its introduction as a “new model,” the Wagoneer is anything but new. Back in 1963, the very first Cherokee Wagoneer made its way to Jeep dealers in Colorado, and across the rest of the United States. It remained in production until 2001, when it was eventually replaced by both the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee models. Apparently, its absence has been felt by enthusiasts of the iconic off-road brand, because it is back and better than ever before.

Meet the Newest Grand Cherokee Wagoneer

At a secret Jeep dealer meeting in October of this year, Jeep dealers were treated to a special unveiling of the latest model to join the brand’s lineup. The Grand Wagoneer name may leave some people nostalgic for the past, but the newest Jeep SUV is nothing like the wood-paneled station wagon that it is named after. Thanks to the inside scoop from dealers at the FCA meeting, the 2019 Grand Wagoneer appears to be a hybrid between the newly redesigned Wrangler, and the Grand Cherokee. With a contemporary feel, sleek appearance, and unlimited capability potential, the 2019 Jeep Grand Wagoneer might just have what it takes to dethrone the Grand Cherokee as the most awarded SUV ever made.

Thanks to leaked pictures and information from the top secret dealer meeting, we have a pretty good idea of what the 2019 Grand Wagoneer has in store for buyers interested in purchasing the full-size SUV next year. The full details surrounding the newest arrival to the Jeep brand lineup are not yet available, but enough information has been released to help whet our eager appetites. Discover what we already know about the 2019 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, and see for yourself why industry experts are chomping at the bit to see it in person.

  • Exterior: The exterior of the new Grand Wagoneer is expected to share the same overall size and platform as the Grand Cherokee. The longer wheelbase and semi-modular chassis design will support the rumored three rows of available seating that the Wagoneer will more than likely offer. While the exterior design language does remind us of the Grand Cherokee, the 2019 Wagoneer appears more muscular and commanding than the brand’s mid-size SUV. One of the most striking aspects of the new Wagoneer is a set of seven-element headlights, that are also mirrored in the rear of the SUV. Featuring a short grille with a wide-mouth opening, the 2019 Jeep Wagoneer is certainly unlike any other vehicle in the brand’s current lineup.
  • Under the Hood: While the leaked pictures are no indication of what might sit under the hood of the 2019 Jeep Wagoneer, it is widely thought that a HEMI V8, and diesel and gas V6 engine will both make the list of available options. In line with its aggressive styling, industry experts are also welcoming the possibility of a Hellcat powered Wagoneer model at some point in time. Whether that will debut with the first model year of the Wagoneer or not, remains to be seen.
  • Interior: Based strictly off exterior pictures, the inside of the Wagoneer is almost entirely speculative. All that we can say for certain, is that the newest Jeep model will offer three rows of seating, and will likely be more luxurious in nature. Mike Manley is the Jeep CEO, and has been quoted as saying that the 2019 Jeep Wagoneer can reach a starting MSRP of up to $130,000. This is a reflection of the brand’s desire to go after the luxury SUV market and target tough competitors like Range Rover and Audi, so while it may seem outrageous, we can almost guarantee that the 2019 Jeep Wagoneer will be well worth the price tag that is attached to it.

The 2019 Jeep Wagoneer is not expected at Jeep dealers in Colorado or the rest of the United States until sometime next year, and aside from the generalized price comment made by the CEO of Jeep, not much else is known about the full-size SUV’s lineup. Whether the brand will create a more affordable version of the three-row SUV, or stick to the high-end luxury side of things, remains a mystery. The only thing we know for certain, is that Jeep enthusiasts from across the country will be lining up to see the largest SUV from the iconic brand, as soon as it arrives on showroom floors.
