If you have been searching "used Jeep dealer near me" on Google, you are on the way to finding the perfect vehicle. There are so many reasons to buy a used Jeep and no reasons you shouldn't. For example, Jeep SUVs do a fine job maintaining their value, perhaps because they remain as impressive to look at and drive even years after their initial purchase. In addition, a used Jeep makes sense if you are into outdoor adventures, desire a reliable vehicle, and you do like a bit of off-roading from time to time. Let’s be honest here, even if you just want a used vehicle to get you to and from work and to ride around town doing errands, there is no better choice than a Jeep. From the iconic designs to their character, these ambitious models are a great choice for your next used vehicle.
You can’t just sit around and discuss a groundbreaking idea; that isn’t how innovation works. However, there are exceptions, and the creation of the Jeep brand is one of them. The beginnings of the Jeep brand is complicated yet legendary. It all began in 1940 when the American military contracted Willys-Overland Motor Company to produce the Willys MB for military use. What was presented to the Army was the earliest form of the Jeep Wrangler called the Willys MB.
On the battlefield, the Willys MB proved to be tough, nimble, and quick; it could handle all types of terrain, and even if it did get stuck, it was light enough to lift it free. In addition, the Willys MB could tow weapons, and it could be mounted with a machine gun. It was used as an ambulance in the field, they were deployed on D-Day, and they carried soldiers to victory in Berlin. In short, the Willys MB helped defeat the Axis powers.
As the conflict overseas wound down, the executives at Willys-Overland wondered about a post-war existence for the Jeep. After several design changes, the Willys CJ-2A was introduced to the American public. In the following years, Jeep enjoyed a small but loyal following while still remaining reliant on military contracts to maintain a steady profit. And over the years, Jeep’s ownership changed a few times until American Motors acquired it in 1969.
The Jeep brand grew significantly under American Motor’s watch, but ultimately, the automaker would start to wither away. In 1987, Chrysler purchased AMC and the rights to Jeep’s name, image, and intellectual property. Jeep was a smart buy for Chrysler as the 1990s saw an explosion of interest in SUVs. To feed the frenzy and take advantage of the public’s interest in SUVs, the Grand Cherokee was introduced in 1992 as a replacement for the aging Grand Wagoneer. The 1990s would also see the introduction of the Patriot, Compass, and Commander.
In 2009, Fiat merged with Chrysler to become Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) and took over the Jeep brand. Under the FCA, Jeep looked to make improvements in their lineup, but first, they took the Commander out of the lineup, and in 2017 the Patriot was removed from the lineup as well. The Grand Cherokee was revived and revamped as well as the Compass. The result was tremendous as the Jeep brand set records for global shipments. Under the new leadership, Jeep would create and introduce a new compact vehicle, the Renegade.
What does the future hold for the Jeep brand? How about a resurrected Grand Wagoneer and a hybrid-electric version of the Wrangler. Stay tuned to see what Jeep has in store for their future.
Jeep vehicles are not just unique because of their styling and history, but because of their unique badging. To earn the coveted Trail Rated badge, only four-wheel drive Jeep models are eligible, but that is only the first step. Jeep models with this distinction must also pass tests in water fording, traction, and ground clearance. The traction testing also includes unpredictable and harsh conditions like snow, loose gravel, and mud. A Trail Rated Jeep must also prove to be agile and hold the ability to dodge obstacles on a trail.
Jeeps with the Trail Rated badge reach this milestone with suspension flexibility, sealed electrical connections, and optimized steering. Jeep tests their models at the Rubicon Trail, which is located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California. The harsh landscape boasts 22 miles of treacherous trails that put any Jeep model to the ultimate test.
Desert Rated Jeep models are put through their share of harsh conditions. To earn the highly-regarded Desert Rated badge, the model must pass ride control, stability, and traction tests. Many of the tests are similar to the Trail Rated testing, but the tests take place in a desert climate with intense heat, dust, and coarse sand.
If you are searching for a great SUV, the Jeep Cherokee is packed with class and style, yet is rugged and offers excellent off-road performance. With a Jeep Cherokee, you can expect increased maneuverability, traction, and great ground clearance. Of course, the Cherokee is also built with safety in mind, and the interior offers the latest tech features and enough room to ensure comfortable passengers.
The Grand Cherokee is a full-size SUV and is at the very top of the Jeep SUV lineup. The Grand Cherokee boasts a firm ride, excellent off-road capabilities, and a posh interior. The upscale and roomy interior make it a comfortable space for the driver and passengers. One of the greatest strengths of the Grand Cherokee is in its versatility. There is a trim level for just about every type of driver and powertrain choices that offer excellent on-road and off-road performance.
Since its introduction in 2015, the Jeep Renegade is a popular choice for those who are looking for a smaller but rugged SUV. The Renegade has external appeal; it has the look of a Jeep with chic contemporary upgrades. It handles very well on the paved roads and holds its own on the trails and unbeaten paths. The Renegade delivers excellent handling and also offers quality engine choices.
The Jeep Compass is a compact SUV that offers ruggedness and refinement, and it boasts off-road capabilities that bests other vehicles in its class. The interior is nicely styled, and the passenger space is above average for its class. Taking much of its visual cues from the Grand Cherokee, the Compass is attractive, and it looks great from any angle.
The Wrangler is a legendary Jeep model with excellent off-road capabilities and the ability to get you anywhere you need to go. The Jeep Wrangler is available in several trim levels and a variety of body styles. You can get a model with two doors or four doors, with a hardtop or soft top, and you can modify it to fit your needs. The Wrangler offers a rugged look, spacious interior, and impressive towing capacities. It is clearly cut out for the roads less traveled.
The Jeep Gladiator is similar to the iconic Wrangler model, but its capabilities and function are on a much higher level. It’s a very unique pickup truck that other manufacturers cannot match in design and features. The Gladiator is basically a Wrangler with a short pickup bed on the back end, a setup that gives the Gladiator plenty of cargo space without sacrificing interior space. If you are looking for a rock-climbing Jeep with serious towing capacity and excellent performance, check out the Jeep Gladiator.
When you start looking for a great used Jeep, it can be easy to think that every dealership is just as good as another. While we wish that was the case, in reality, there are some significant differences between dealerships. The one you choose can have a big impact on the kind of vehicle and experience you get. Here at The Faricy Boys, we work hard to put your needs first and ensure you get the best used Jeep possible with long-term support that ensures you get the most from it for many years to come.
For one thing, we are not a new dealership that just popped up looking to make some quick money and grind through consumers as fast as possible. We have been here in the Colorado Springs area for more than 75 years, family-owned and operated during all of that time. That means we not only have generations of experience with selling the best vehicles around, but we have roots here in the community. You are not just our customer – you are our friend and neighbor, someone we will see around town, so we make sure we treat you the way we want to be treated when making a major purchase.
All of our used Jeeps come with a complimentary CARFAX vehicle history report, so you know everything we do about it. We fully inspect all of our vehicles and provide a comprehensive reconditioning report on many of the used Jeeps we offer. This helps us ensure our vehicles are in the best condition possible and that they will treat you well for a long time.
We are passionate about Jeeps and the Jeep-driver experience, which goes well beyond simply selling the best used Jeep models around. This extends to our understanding of what a Jeep owner is really looking for: the freedom to explore the world and go wherever you want. While not every Jeep model is a dedicated off-road machine, the Trail Rated legacy of the Jeep brand is built on a foundation of leaving the city behind and taking the road less (or never) traveled.
The off-road capabilities of models like the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator speak for themselves, but we know what people say: talk is cheap. So rather than just talk about it, we want to show you the kind of remarkable performance and abilities these vehicles have, which we can do at our exclusive Faricy Test Track. Located here at our dealership, our test track covers more than a full acre of land and includes a wide range of different terrains and situations designed to simulate what you will find on the trail.
This includes a water fording area to give you a taste of how easily something like a used Jeep Wrangler can rush through a creek or stream. We have all kinds of different terrain, including uneven ground, so you can really feel the incredible ground clearance and functionality of our great Jeep models for yourself. You can experience the approach and departure angles, as well as the kind of grip and traction these models have at our test track, and then let us help you choose the perfect Jeep that will take you on the trail you have always dreamed of conquering.
Getting the most from your vehicle means not only finding a fantastic model with everything you need but having the right kind of long-term support to help you enjoy what it offers for many years. Proper care and service for your Jeep is not the most exciting or romantic thing – we get that – but it is very important to ensure your vehicle stays in excellent shape. While you always want to have problems and issues addressed promptly, just as important is staying ahead of things by following a maintenance schedule for your vehicle. In almost every case, the time and expense of routine service and preventative care are much lower than the cost of bigger repairs for serious issues caused by a lack of maintenance.
The most important thing to remember is this: every vehicle is different, and you will need to learn the ins and outs of your particular Jeep. Look at the owner’s manual to see what Jeep recommends for a service routine for your model – it can vary depending on the engine you have and other factors. Nothing replaces the information provided by the manufacturer, so knowing what they recommend is the first step to properly caring for your vehicle.
With that in mind, there is a general Jeep service schedule that you can keep in mind when figuring out how to properly care for your vehicle. Just remember that this is an overall schedule to consider and go by if you are unsure of what to do for your specific vehicle. We can also go over the proper schedule for your model with you and help you set up a calendar for when you need maintenance to keep your Jeep in great shape.
Some general service scheduling to remember:
As we said, this is only a general guideline that is recommended for Jeep vehicles, but your particular model and other factors can all impact this. For example, depending on your engine and the type of motor oil you use – particularly if you choose synthetic oil – you might be able to go longer between having your oil changed. Similarly, it is important to always remember that if you feel or hear anything off, such as your Jeep riding roughly or taking longer to stop, then you should have it serviced immediately to ensure it remains safe on the road.
