Brrr…Wrangle Winter Behind the Wheel of a Used Jeep Polar Edition

January 5th, 2016 by

More often than not, it seems we Jeep lovers associate the beloved brand with rugged summertime off-road excursions and top-down trips to the beach. But, the arrival of winter is no reason to call off your search for a used Jeep Wrangler.

In fact, the 2014 Jeep Wrangler Polar Edition is the perfect excuse to consider some arctic adventures. Never hear of the Polar Edition? Read on for some stone cold specs and features – proof that a used Jeep Wrangler is an ideal all-terrain SUV for all seasons.

The 2014 Polar Edition – A Used Jeep Wrangler That Celebrates Winter

Released in 2014 after its introduction at the Frankfurt Auto Show, the Polar Edition Jeep Wrangler is a limited production, one that was created in deference to the Antarctic’s challenging climate extremes. The Polar Edition boasts eye-catching exterior enhancements, but strengthens these superficial touches with serious internal upgrades.

Standard power comes from a Pentastar V6 engine, generating 285 horsepower and operated by a six-speed manual or available five-speed automatic transmission. No matter which drivetrain you prefer, all 2014 Jeep Wrangler Polar Editions are outfitted with a Rubicon-spec Command-Trac NV241 part-time dual-range transfer case, in addition to a Trac-Lok anti-spin rear differential. But, if you’re the type who’s more likely to push the envelope when it comes to the Wrangler’s off-roading capabilities, you can always equip your Polar Edition with an electronic locking differential, courtesy of the Rubicon model.

Choose either a two-door or four-door configuration for your Polar Edition, priced at $33,490 and $37,190, respectively, with exterior colors ranging from Billet Silver Metallic, Bright White, or the brand new for 2014 Hydro Blue.

Other exterior enhancements include details like 18-inch alloy wheels, body-color hardtop completed with tinted sunscreen glass, Powerdome hood, Mopar fuel door, and cosmetic clues to its Arctic inspiration like mountain graphics and geographic coordinates along the fender badges of Antartica’s Vostok, home to the lowest temperature ever recorded: -128.56 degrees Fahrenheit.

Just in case you somehow forget that your piloting the Polar Edition Wrangler, interior accents like embroidered “Polar” logos, set off by Pearl White stitching, will surely remind you. Should you choose to brave such frigid temperatures as those recorded at Vostok, you’ll appreciate the Polar Edition’s heated seats, covered in Black leather, complemented by a steering wheel cover in black leather for ultimate comfort.

In keeping with the “Polar” theme, the rest of the interior, like the dashboard grab bar on the passenger side, the vent casings, and instrument cluster, are all set off in a shade of Ceramic White. Snowy or icy conditions? Let your boots defrost and dry off on the Mopar tread-pattern slush mats.

We all know that the Jeep brand is famous for its “Go Anywhere, Do Anything” attitude, but the 2014 Jeep Wrangler Polar Edition takes that motivation to a new level. Wrangle winter driving in a used 2014 Jeep Wrangler Polar Edition and see just how far you can go before the snow starts to melt.
