Off-Roading and All-Weather Capabilities

Off-roading capability is not new to the 2023 Wrangler. The Wrangler has always been made to traverse uncharted territory, and the Rubicon’s debut in 2003 took Jeep’s off-roading name even further. The Rubicon trim level is designed specifically to tackle trails and rough terrain and has dominated the Wrangler lineup since its first appearance. Still, it isn’t Jeep’s only serious off-roading trim level. The Willys trim is also great for off-pavement travels, and nothing is more powerful than the new Rubicon 392.

That said, all 2023 Jeep Wrangler trims and models are Trail Rated. This means that even if you’re not a hardcore trail driver, hanging off rock cliffs for fun, the Wrangler’s regular trim levels can still get you through some heavy Colorado snows. The Trail Rated badge measures five different factors crucial to off-roading: traction, articulation, water fording, ground clearance, and maneuverability. What does this mean for you? 2023 Jeep Wrangler Trims and Models

There’s plenty of variety on the table if you’re looking at 2023 Jeep Wrangler options. Wrangler 4xe

This hybrid Wrangler 4xe is available in four different trim levels: the Sahara, the Rubicon, the High Altitude, and the newly added Willys. The Wrangler 4xe showed up in 2021 and has been Jeep’s first big step towards electrification. It doesn’t lose off-roading capability just because its engine is helped by battery power. In fact, it pumps out 470 lb-ft of torque and 375 hp while reaching an estimated 49 MPGe. It’s also Trail Rated just like its gas and diesel counterparts. Plus, you can switch between three different modes: e-save, hybrid, and electric. Use battery and gasoline power together or separately, depending on your needs.

Wrangler Rubicon

Jeep vehicles have always been in the lead when it comes to off-roading, but the Rubicon carries more capability than any other Jeep on the market. Its standard Rock-Trac 4×4 system is the most capable of Wrangler three 4×4 systems, making the Rubicon a master rock crawler thanks to its 4:1 crawl ratio. This trim also comes with standard front and rear locking differentials, plus an electronic front sway-bar disconnect for maximum articulation.

Wrangler Rubicon 392

This one’s a beast. It has everything that the Rubicon offers and more. The Rubicon 392 is the most powerful Wrangler on the market. It’s powered by a 6.4-liter HEMI 392 V8 engine, producing 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. While it’s not Jeep’s most fuel-efficient model, it can go from zero to 60 in only 4.5 seconds, making it fast and fierce. If you’re the type who can never have enough power, this is the Wrangler for you.

Wrangler Willys

We like to call this one the “middle ground” Wrangler trim, a perfect balance for everyday drivers who want a touch of additional off-road capability. The Willys includes some cool off-road-specific features like 32-inch Firestone mud tires, rock rails, underbody skid plates, and more. It also uses the Selec-Trac 4×4 system, which falls between the lower-level Command-Trac and the Rubicon’s Rock-Trac. For even more off-pavement fun, you can add the Xtreme Recon package with its 35-inch tires.

Safety, Tech, and Comfort

At this point, you’re already convinced of the Wrangler’s good looks and power. So, what else does it have to offer? A variety of safety features comes first on the list.
