What Is the Jeep 4xe?

If that is the case, let’s take a few moments to go over what these models are and how they work. 4xe is the name Jeep gives to its hybrid powertrains. This powertrain pairs together a traditional gas-powered engine with electric motor technology. The electric performance ensures that you get to enjoy a tranquil ride that is virtually silent when you flip it over to Electric mode. When driving conditions change, you can adjust the electric output to best handle it.

So, what is Electric mode? Electric mode is a drive mode that allows you to get almost zero emissions while driving along the highway as it exclusively powers the vehicle. When on a full charge, the Wrangler 4xe is able to get an electric range of 24 miles. All you need to do is press the E-Selec button up front to switch over.

The 4xe also, of course, has Hybrid mode. Engaging the Hybrid mode combines torque from the electric motor and the gas-powered 2.0L DOHC DI Turbo I-4 engine. Not only does this instantly deliver a lot more torque, but it also gives the 4xe maximum horsepower. Acceleration becomes even more exciting, too. Electric power gets consumed first; when it is fully drained, the system switches over to the gas-powered engine.

There is another drive mode you can use called the eSave mode. eSave first uses power from the 2.0L engine before it switches over to the electric motor for the majority of the vehicle’s power. The engine will shut itself off when there is a low demand for it to produce energy. If you want to enhance the battery’s recharging capabilities, you can simply reconfigure the drive mode.

Regenerative braking is another benefit of buying a 4xe model. When you apply the brakes or are decelerating, the brakes will be recharged. In low pedal positions, aggressive regeneration is amped up through the accelerator pedal, which is all done via the Max Regeneration feature.
