Known for its breathtaking views of the snow-capped Southern Rocky Mountains, Colorado Springs is nestled near the base of the iconic Pikes Peak and is home to over 500,000 people who affectionately refer to their hometown as “The Springs.” Among those who take great pride in The Springs is The Faricy Boys, your Colorado Springs Chrysler dealership. We’ve built a legacy in our hometown that began with our grandfather, Owen Faricy, who opened the first Faricy Boys dealership in 1942.
Our grandfather built the Faricy reputation and handed the reins over to his sons, who ran The Faricy Boys until the new millennium when the third generation of Faricys stepped up to lead the business. Today, we are incredibly proud to continue the family legacy that’s deeply rooted in our community and mirrors our grandfather’s promise to provide exceptional service to every customer. To put it simply, it’s “the Faricy'' way, and that’s what makes us the leading Chrysler dealership in Colorado Springs.
Chrysler is one of the most reputable brands in the automotive industry, but did you know that it’s endured a tumultuous history since its founding in the 1920s? Walter P. Chrysler introduced the first Chrysler car in 1924 and formed the Chrysler Corporation a year later only to see the company purchased by the American Body Company. This enabled Chrysler to divide its growing fleet of vehicles into various brands like the affordable Plymouth and the higher-end DeSoto. Around this time, Chrysler also merged with Dodge Brothers and gained a foothold in the truck business.
Chrysler halted car production during World War II to produce trucks, aircraft parts, guns, ammunition, bombs, and tanks. Following the war, the brand struggled to regain its footing against competitors like General Motors and Ford, who produced more reliable and powerful vehicles. Fortunately, this shifted by the 1960s when Chrysler entered the market of muscle cars with the Plymouth Barracuda, the Road Runner, and the Dodge Charger.
Throughout the 1970s, Chrysler and many other leading car manufacturers endured financial turmoil. Chrysler received a $1.5 billion loan from the US government by the end of the decade and spent the next two decades repaying the loan and planning for a brighter future. This future included the introduction of Jeep into the Chrysler lineup in 1987, followed by Daimler-Benz purchasing Chrysler to form DaimlerChrysler AG. The merger ended nearly a decade later, leaving Chrysler alone to struggle through the automotive industry crisis between 2008 and 2010.
Chrysler filed for bankruptcy in 2009 and spent the next several years repaying its debts as Fiat acquired the majority of shares in the company. This led to the newly formed Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA US LLC). It’s also where we find the Chrysler brand today with models like the Pacifica that offers seating for eight, the Pacifica Hybrid that gets up to 82 MPG on the highway, the 300 that delivers 363 horsepower, and the Voyager that offers seating for seven and a fuel economy of 28 MPG on the highway. We’re proud to say that you’ll find all these models and more on The Faricy Boys lot.
The 2022 Chrysler Pacifica adds a few new extras to the model, which in of itself has only been on the market since 2016. Although the Pacifica had been available on the market as an SUV for a short period before being shelved in 2007, this reboot changed nearly everything. The only similarity between the two mostly comes down to its namesake; everything else was reconsidered. Speaking solely of the last five years of the Pacifica, numerous advancements were made and implemented in its short time on the market. However, the 2021 model would bring forth the most change, which correlates directly with the latest 2022 model with a few new additions on top of that, namely in regards to infotainment amenities.
One thing that has remained consistent ever since the Pacifica rejoined the market is the powertrain on which it runs. Purchasing any Pacifica model from 2017 onwards will net you a 3.6L V6 engine that pairs with an excellent 9-speed automatic transmission. If it isn't broken, then don't fix it is the mentality that the Pacifica is built with, and this is understandable with its 287 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. With this power under the hood, the Pacifica can perform towing tasks up to 3,600 lbs, which should be just enough for family usage. For a vehicle of its size, this V6 engine doesn't burn through fuel as quickly as you may imagine, with this powertrain garnering EPA-estimated ratings of 19 mpg city and 28 mpg highway.
As a minivan, one of the highlights of the Pacifica is an impressive amount of cargo space. Minivans are perfect for transporting cargo whether you're with the whole family, one other person, or simply by yourself. Like a majority of SUVs, minivans such as the Pacifica can offer more cargo space when each row of seats is folded downwards. Keeping the full passenger capacity, which is eight, then you'll have 32.3 cu. ft. of cargo space. Folding down the back-most row will raise this to 87.5 cu ft. With both of the back rows folded down, you'll have a whopping 140.5 cu ft of space, which is an immense 335% increase.
Alongside the Chrysler Pacifica came the Pacifica Hybrid. On the surface, these two vehicles are practically identical, but as the name would suggest, this minivan is a plug-in hybrid. This is relatively unheard of, so the release of this vehicle was less like that of your average automobile and more of a mission statement for manufacturers to follow suit. With a majority of the interior sharing the same feature set and design as the regular Pacifica, the main difference between the two is the personal preference each driver will have. Whether you want to drive a regular gasoline-driven engine, or if you want to be one of the very first drivers to invest in a hybrid minivan, the choice is yours.
There's one massive advantage to opting for the Pacifica Hybrid model, and that's the money that you will be saving. Hybrids are still in a grey area for many drivers, and this is because some still aren't aware of the performance gains that are still possible. Hybrids such as the Pacifica Hybrid utilize a combo that consists of a gasoline engine, a battery, and electric motors. In the case of the Pacifica Hybrid, it links the same 3.6L V6 engine that you'll find in the regular Pacifica with the aforementioned motors and a 16 kWh battery. The result is 260 hp, and this powertrain includes a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) for added efficiency.
Fuel efficiency along with mileage range are the two defining factors of how efficient a hybrid powertrain ultimately is. Mileage range is the entire distance traveled while the engine continues to burn fuel as it normally does. The result is 82 MPGe combined, and if the battery is fully charged and the fuel tank is full, you can expect a range of 32 miles on electricity alone before the gasoline engine kicks in.
Like the regular Pacifica, the infotainment center inside remains the same. Last year this area of the interior was greatly improved upon, and the 2022 model borrows the same technology. Earlier Pacifica models and the hybrids by association included an 8.4-inch infotainment center with the various features that people would expect, such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, even these have received significant upgrades.
Models from 2021 and later include a 10.1-inch touchscreen instead, and that's not all. The 2021 models also increased the versatility of the infotainment system by introducing wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This finally eliminates the need to bring along a USB cable if you want to use these features. However, if you still want to bring one along for charging your phone, you'll have no shortage of ports to plug into, as you can opt for up to twelve ports throughout your cabin.
The Chrysler 300 is a staple within Chrysler's lineup. It offers everything that Chrysler is known for, all combined into one fantastic and sleek automobile. The Chrysler 300 has a sporty exterior and simply looks high quality. In addition to this, performance has always been a massive selling point with the 300, and whether you're shopping on the new or used market, you can expect excellent performance. The 2022 model does have some new advancements over its predecessors, the most noteworthy of which is a brand new air filtration system. According to Chrysler's sources, this makes the air inside of the 300 the freshest it's ever been in the manufacturer's entire lineage of automobiles. This is a large accomplishment for Chrysler and should benefit everyone, from the driver to the passengers.
Inside of the 2022 model, you can fit one of two powertrains that have been a part of the 300 since as far back as 2011. The first of which is a 3.6L V6 engine, and the other is a much more powerful 5.7L V8 engine. Both of these engines will be paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Earlier models that included this V6 engine would give 292 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, which is still the case today in the base model. However, the 300S now offers an even 300 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque. Next is the 5.7L V8 engine, and this hasn't seen any performance upgrades in quite some time. That isn't a concern of anyone's, however, as it still gives the 300 a stunning 363 hp and 394 lb-ft of torque.
When combined in unison with the aforementioned 8-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive, the 300 can give you a punchier feeling than a lot of its competitors. Upgrading to the V8 engine will grant 24% more horsepower than the V6 engine and 52% more torque output, so the difference is quite substantial in the end. It's worth noting that the V8 engine is exclusive to the 300S trim. The 300S includes other improvements for the 2022 model, including a subwoofer that's installed into the trunk to complement the new nine-speaker setup, among numerous other enhancements.
Many drivers will be pleased to learn that this immense amount of power doesn't mean that the 300 is a fuel-hungry vehicle. Utilizing the 3.6L V6 engine will give the 300 an EPA-estimated rating of 19 mpg city and 30 mpg highway with RWD, which makes for 23 mpg combined. With AWD, you still get 18 mpg city and 27 mpg highway. For the V8 engine, even the vast amount of power can still translate to EPA-estimated ratings of 16 mpg city and 25 mpg highway. The Chrysler 300 is the perfect choice for getting anywhere in style, whether it's through a lengthy drive on the freeway or a simple trek down to the store.
