With a Certified Pre Owned Jeep, it means that Chrysler has inspected and backed up the vehicle before offering it again for sale. There are certain requirements that must be met by a vehicle in order for it to be certified as a pre owned Jeep, including a thorough inspection. All Certified Pre Owned Jeeps must have been released within the last 5 model years and cannot have more than 75,000 miles on them. Anything older or with more mileage is not even considered by Chrysler.
Perhaps the most important part of a Certified Pre Owned Jeep is that it has undergone and passed a rigorous inspection by Chrysler to ensure it is of the highest quality. In addition to the previous requirements for the age and mileage of a vehicle, it cannot have any frame damage, it must have a clean title, and any added aftermarket accessories cannot compromise the safety, emissions standards, or operation of the vehicle. This is only the beginning of the 125-point inspection that every Jeep must go through to become certified.
The inspection looks at the inside and outside of the vehicle, including its electrical and mechanical systems. This ranges from basic things like ensuring key fobs work and all heating and ventilation systems are functional, to specific details like a road test to ensure gear selector operation and power steering performance. The powertrain and brake systems are fully inspected, and the interior and exterior are cleaned and detailed to look as good as new.
Two warranties are provided with every Certified Pre Owned Jeep, which extends beyond the new vehicle warranty each Jeep has. The first is a 3-month/3,000-mile maximum car warranty that covers over 5,000 vehicle components. This ensures that the Jeep runs well and covers anything that might have possibly been missed during the manufacturer’s comprehensive inspection.
There is also a 7-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty that covers repairs or replacement of the major powertrain components, including the transmission and engine. Of course, to pass the initial inspection for certification, the Jeep must already be in the best condition possible, but this gives you more peace of mind about what it has been through.
